is an ode to AIM.
I spent years of my life talking on AIM. For the entire year of 2020 I socialized almost exclusively online as well. Away Message is a recreation of actual archived messages from 2009-2013 between my best friend and I when we were first getting to know each other. Away Message exists as both a series of .gifs and a booklet, recreated in the pixel art and animation program Aesprite.

The printed booklet also doubles as a flipbook.
